Canine Visitor

Before I started fostering I commonly would watch friends dogs for them. One is a short haired St. Bernard my friends Todd and Jessica own. Todd's grandmother died over the weekend and they were headed to Pittsburgh for the funeral today. I told them I would watch Summit for them.

When Summit arrived we had them both outside in the yard. We waited until both dogs were calm until we let them really meet. Addison still had her tail between her legs so I thought we should take them both for a walk. After about 5 minutes of walking they were walking side by side and her tail was out from between her legs. We walked for about 30 minutes and by the time we were back they were both fine with each other.

Walking them has been easy and they both stay at my side with slack in the leash. When I feed them I have them both lay down before being fed and just supervise that they don't eat each others food. There have been no problems and both dogs always seem calm. Sometimes they get a little playful but I have to stop them when they try to start running around the house.

I hope Addison loses some of her phobias with Summit there as an example. It would be nice if she realizes that when she gets scared by a noise he is not freaking out like her and follow suit.
