Rachel, another foster with Homeward Trails, had me watch her foster, Bertha, while she went on a trip to Philadelphia for the weekend. Rachel dropped Bertha off on Friday morning. That meant a two dog weekend for me. Bertha and Addison got along very well, played a bit, and slept a lot. At one point Bertha was sleeping in her crate and Addison went in to check it out and decided to nap with her for a bit. I wish I could have gotten some pictures but I can't seem to find my camera. :-(
Feeding time was always strange. Bertha is on a diet so I would give her less food and I would feed Addison extra because she could use a little more weight since her ribs are still visible. I couldn't believe how fast Bertha would eat her food.
There was a point where they were both laying in the living room and I gave them both a bone to chew on. Addison got up at one point and Bertha gave a growl to her that I quickly corrected with a strong NO and a touch to her side to snap her out of her fixation. I'm sure it's really notan issue with Bertha and that she is mostly just hungry from being on a diet. I still felt that she should know that growling is unwanted behavior.
Since I worked from home on Friday and was doing thing around the house most of the weekend I figured I would only crate them when I left for a wedding on Saturday evening. There was only one accident and that was when Addison peed on the dog bed when I was in the shower. I had just taken them for a walk and couldn't figure out why she did it except that Bertha was sleeping on the bed the night before. I was upset because she had gone so long without an accident in the house. Luckily it was all on the bed and an easy and quick clean up. I washed it that day but I'd still like to get some Nature's Miracle and rewash it to get any possible scent out of the bed so it doesn't happen again.
